It was a fun, fabulous, and freaky time when my friend, the funk-master Rick James, put together a band he lovingly called the Mary Jane Girls. I joined the band in 1985 for the second album, Only For You. I was named Corvette, and played the part of a wild ‘n trendy girl. We had two top ten singles that year: “In My House,” and “Wild & Crazy Love.”

Throughout the 80's Rick found huge success at Motown, producing hits for the Temptations, Teena Marie, Eddie Murphy, and the The Mary Jane Girls and major hits like "Super Freak," "Give it to Me Baby" and "Fire and Desire" with Tina Marie.

But above all, I remember my friend, Rick James.
